My family and I decided to spend my birthday away from the city. We just wanted to relax, wake up with the sound of waves rushing to the shore and fall asleep feeling full after a whole day of fun activities and sharing some great food; it was a unanimous decision to book a reservation in a beach resort.
I booked in Crusoe Cabins and stayed in one of the cabins by the sea.
Every time you I go on a vacation, I would personally just concentrate on three things: the travel to and from the site, the food that will keep us full and happy the entire stay and the overall ambiance of the location.
LOCATION
Crusoe Cabins is located in Calatagan, Batangas, Philippines; just few hours away from the Metro. I would say that it is not that near but not far either. You will surely get there without a wrong turn even though the area starts to look a bit remote as you near the location. If you are the kind of traveler who enjoys the actual journey as much as the destination, you will love this 4-hour drive. There are few rough roads but compensated with a lot of greens everywhere. What I love most is the stretch of the somehow artistically-planted trees you will drive by 5km away from the Cabin – surely a sight for sore eyes.
FOOD
The resort is distantly located even from the nearest rural market. If you are travelling in bigger packs, you might want to load some food for your stay – something to grill I would suggest as they have great areas for grilling and ready to eat snacks and drink. However, the resort has a nice restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, Snacks, and dinner if you are not the “food-packer” type. On the menu are Caldereta, Adobo, Pinakbet, Pansit and more Filipino and local dishes; And yes, they also serve beers. There are beach table spread out near the ocean side where you can have your food served whilst listening to the sound of the waves or have your snacks be sent to the comfort of your cabins.
AMBIANCE
We were lucky when we visited Crusoe Cabins because there were only few guests checked-in thus, we were able to enjoy the resort like we are the only ones there. I am the type of traveler who doesn’t care much of the accommodation, I would prefer to have a great experience of the place itself; if it is a great one, it’s of course much better, but just to put it out there, their cabins, not only that it looks polished and stylish on the outside but it’s also fully equipped with air-condition, private bathrooms, mini bar and a veranda. It is a complete package. The view of the sunrise over at the back side of the resort was really stunning more so the magnificent panorama of the sunset. Even when the sun is blazing from the sky, you would not feel the blistering heat as the array of Coconut trees provide shade and balances the breeze.
If I would choose a “go-to” resort any time of the year (Well, maybe not on Rainy season) where I can just relax either by myself or spend some quality time with family and friends, I would put Crusoe Cabins on top of my list.
